Lord of the boundless curves of space
For the beauty of the earth
Come ye thankful people come
Who put the scent into the roses
Think of a world without any flowers
... by him the birds are fed

About us

We are an evangelical Anglican church in the village of Poughill on the edge of Bude, North Cornwall. As well as worshipping in Church, we meet together in smaller groups for social occasions, in youth and children's groups, and for prayer and Bible study. We try to support each other in our faith and in our day to day lives. We don’t have all the answers but we are on a journey of discovery - growing to know God and what it means to follow Jesus Christ in the 21st century. Do join us - we love meeting new people, so visitors are especially welcome.

When most people think of a Church they immediately think of a beautiful village chapel or a magnificent cathedral. Other people think of a charity fund-raising organisation or even simply a denomination full of confusing traditions. The Bible however, describes the Church as 'Living Stones' - men, women and young people who are precious to God (1 Peter Ch 2:5).

Here at St Olaf's the Church is made up of ordinary people from all ages groups, backgrounds and experiences with one great thing in common - a faith that is grounded in God's word, the Bible, and our trust in the living Lord Jesus Christ.

In our church there is an emphasis on preaching the Bible as God's word and, not only preach about it or from it, but to worship and live according to what it says, and applying what we find in those pages to our every day lives within an ever changing and often chaotic society full of political conflicts, religious confusion and personal heart aches.

These are currently not "normal" times, but when things are back to normal, you would find that we offer a very warm welcome to both visitors to our lovely part of the world and to those who live around us, and have a genuine heart for the community we live in, those just starting out in life or those nearing the end - all will find something at St Olaf's.

As a Church for all the family, we try to demonstrate the love of Christ Jesus through help, care and encouragement. We hope you will find this site informative and trust that you will discover the God that we love for yourself.

As soon as we can, you will find each week there are meetings and events for all ages, children, young people and older folk.

If we can minister to you or your family in anyway it would be our privilege to help, we will do our best to help out, and when this is all over we hope to see you at one of our regular worship services or weekly events.
